ContextOS

ContextOS Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 9, 2026

ContextOS is a Chrome extension that lets users capture, edit, save, import, export, and transfer context between AI chat websites. This policy explains what information ContextOS accesses, where it is stored, and when it is shared.

1. Information ContextOS accesses

When you choose to capture a conversation, ContextOS may read visible page content from the active tab, including conversation text, the page title, and the page URL, to create a context packet. The extension does not intentionally capture conversations in the background; capture is initiated by the user.

Context packets may contain personal or sensitive information if the user includes it in a conversation or chooses to capture it. Review a packet before saving, exporting, or sending it to another service.

2. Information stored on your device

ContextOS stores saved context packets, packet metadata, the active packet selection, and extension settings using Chrome's local extension storage in your browser profile. This build does not operate a ContextOS account system, cloud sync service, or ContextOS backend server.

3. When information is sent to third parties

ContextOS does not send captured conversation content to a ContextOS-operated server.

ContextOS does not sell conversation content or use it for advertising. The extension does not include analytics or advertising code in this build.

4. How information is used

Information accessed by ContextOS is used to provide its core features: capturing a conversation when requested, creating and editing context packets, saving packets locally, importing/exporting Markdown, and preparing a handoff to another AI chat. This version does not include an AI optimization API integration.

5. Your choices and deleting information

Files you have already exported, or information already submitted to another AI service, are not deleted when you delete a local packet. Contact the relevant service to ask about its retention or deletion options.

6. Security

ContextOS stores packets in Chrome extension local storage. The extension does not separately encrypt saved packets. Anyone with access to your browser profile may be able to access local extension data. Do not save secrets or credentials in context packets.

7. Children's privacy

ContextOS is not designed specifically for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children through a ContextOS-operated server.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when ContextOS features or data practices change. The latest version will be published at the privacy-policy URL linked from the Chrome Web Store listing.
